Building the Suskol House
For over 20 years, Suscol Intertribal Council has worked to raise the funds to finish the Suskol House, which is no small task. Gradually, the property has transformed into a sanctuary for Native and Indigenous people to hold ceremony and gatherings. First, the outdoor kitchen was erected. The ceremonial arbor and three lodges followed, as well native plants and cedar trees. In 2021, the walls and roof of the house were constructed. Donations to the Suskol House fund are essential to the transition to community healing and connection. The house symbolizes resilient cultures and history through the actions of the ancestors. In the house, traditions can continue to be shared and passed on; traditional knowledge can continue to live in each succeeding generation.
